Day 4 Students' Learning Community (SLC) for environmental education

Date; 2007/August/4 at 9:00 to 13:30
The Place; Sarafand Learning Resource Center
The participants; 3 teachers ( Iyad, Hanadi S, Hanadi H), 9 students, 4 Japanese staffs( Mako, Nori, Taka, Miki)

It was last day of the SLC of environmental education. There were 2 students who were late to come because they got up very late. The teachers called up to tell them to come and then they came.

Today, the students made presentation as the outcome of their study. They have learnt the environmental issues and think of the solution from their perspectives. They put the drawing and pictures to express better what they have leant in the SLC.

The workshop was over 13:30, though it was supposed to be over at 11:00. Some students insisted to continue to work as to complete their presentation. In fact, it took time to make presentation for the students because they were not good at computer. However under full support from the social study teachers, all of the students could complete the presentation.

At the end of the SLC, the students completed their portfolio. For 4 days, the teachers prepared some worksheets. The teachers, under the support of Japanese staffs, sorted out their learning record into one file as to make portfolio. When the students got their portfolio, they seemed very brighten and said many thanks to teachers and Japanese staffs.

Mr. Nori, one who is the teacher of Japanese school, gave the certification to only the students who participated in the SLC full days. One student who came only half of the SLC could not get certification. It was hard decision for us not to give the certification to her, but we decided to respect the students who contributed very much in SLC.

In total, the SLC of environmental education was great and excellent. Most of students asked the teachers and Japanese staffs to continue more the activity of SLC because they insisted that they have learnt a lot. Not only the students but also the teachers and Japanese staffs also enjoyed so much in the SLC.
